Frequently asked questions:

Why can Rincon Broadband provide high speed, reliable service where others can’t?
Rincon Broadband uses wireless technology to beam an internet signal where other providers have not placed their wires. You may be familiar with wireless routers. We use a similar technology with concentrated directional antennas to beam a strong signal to you.

Is the network secure?
Rincon Broadband uses advanced encryption techniques to ensure that the network is secure. Additionally there are at least two routers/firewalls separating each customers’ computers and the internet.

How much does monthly service cost?
Rincon Broadband offers two levels of service – Residential Class and Gold Class.

  • Residential class (1megabyte/second) - $49/month – great for most residences.  Enough bandwidth to stream video like YouTube.
  • Gold class (2megabytes/sec) - $75/month - The right choice for more bandwidth intensive work.

How much does installation cost?
Installation costs only $350. All of the equipment installed by Rincon Broadband is owned by Rincon Broadband. Should any of the equipment ever fail, Rincon Broadband is responsible for replacing it.

What is “latency” and how does it affect my service?
Latency is a term used to describe how long it takes a “packet” of information sent from your computer to a server on the internet and back to your computer again.  This measurement is vital to a network because it can significantly delay a response, effectively slowing down your ability to view websites.  Satellite and cellular based internet typically has delays commonly in the range of 300-500ms while Rincon Broadband has average ping times under 30ms.

Do I need a phone line for Rincon Broadband to work?
No. Rincon Broadband does not utilize any phone, cable or satellite connection for it to work. All we need is a power outlet.

What if I’m not happy with your service?
Rincon Broadband offers a 2 week, money back guarantee. If the service does not meet your expectations, Rincon Broadband will refund your $350 installation fee. You will owe absolutely nothing if you are not completely satisfied!

When is the best time to start service?
Anytime is a great time to start service with Rincon Broadband. Any portion of a month of service will be prorated.

Will you help me set up my home network?
Yes. 1 hour of home or business network setup is included during installation. We will hardwire one computer and setup wireless service on laptops if so equipped.

What equipment is included?
Rincon Broadband will mount an antenna on your roof or wall as discreetly as possible while trying to achieve the best possible signal. We use one of several different types of antennas depending on the situation. Service also includes a wireless router placed inside your home.

How do I connect to the internet with Rincon Broadband?
Rincon Broadband uses an “always on” connection. If your computer is on, it should be connected to the internet. There is no need to sign on, enter a password or wait for the computer to “dial in”.

How long will installation take?
Rincon Broadband can likely have your home or business hooked up to the internet in as little as 1-3 days if you currently have “line of sight” to one of our broadcasting antennas. We will come to your location and determine the best plan for getting you service. Call today.

Can I hook up multiple computers to my Rincon Broadband connection?
Yes. Your residential connection will handle 2 or 3 computers depending on the type of usage and Rincon Broadband will supply you with a wireless router. Be aware that bandwidth intensive usage such as streaming video or online gaming can slow down the connection to the other computers in your home. Gold Class service may be the better option if you have more computers or require higher speed.

Will Rincon Broadband run Ethernet wire to all of my computers?
Rincon Broadband will run Ethernet wire to the primary computer and router.

Are there any limitations on downloads or uploads like many satellite providers?
No. Many satellite providers limit the total amount of data transferred to or from the account. If the daily limit is exceeded these providers will dramatically slow down the service. Rincon Broadband does not limit the amount of data transferred.

Do poor weather conditions affect my service?
Weather will rarely affect your service. Very high wind gusts can sometimes knock an antenna out of alignment but this is rare. Rain and stormy weather rarely pose a problem.  Radio signals have the greatest problem with differences in temperature between two antennas but even this problem is rare and outages of this nature usually last only a minute or two.

Do you provide email services?
Yes. Rincon Broadband can issue email addresses in the form of xxxxxxx@RinconBroadband.com. Residential accounts can have up to 4 email addresses and Business Class accounts can have up to 8 email addresses.

Do I need to supply a router?
No. Rincon Broadband will supply a wireless router for your network if you don’t already have one that you’d like to use.

How does Rincon Broadband bill me?
Rincon Broadband bills at the end of the month for the prior month of usage. We will automatically withdrawal funds from your checking account and send you a monthly statement via email.

Do I have to sign a long term contract with Rincon Broadband?
No. While we will have you sign a contract, we are confident that you will be a long term customer by choice after experiencing our excellent customer service and our fast, reliable, reasonably priced product. You may stop service at anytime, just let us know in writing 15 days prior to the cancellation date.
